Horizon House is participating in the Walking for Dreams 5K taking place Sunday, May 17th, 2015. The walk is family & pet friendly along the downtown canal. Horizon House’s team is "Hope is on the Horizon".
We are happy to announce that Bernard Holland and his dog Oreo will be leading our team on the walk as Team Captains. Bernard received national attention in the past few months because he would not go into shelter on one of our very cold days unless there was a place for his beloved dog Oreo to go.
Bernard & Oreo’s story was first featured by Indy Star’s Maureen Gilmer in January. From there, the story went viral & was picked up by the Huffington Post, Buzzfeed and a couple of local TV stations. Since the story hit, we have received emails & phone calls from across the country wanting to help Bernard. Through Horizon House, Bernard participated in the Jobs Readiness Training class and continued working with staff to prepare for job interviews and more. He now has a full-time position with a local hospital and is housed with Oreo.

Horizon House is raising funds to assist homeless individuals we call "neighbors" to overcome barriers to end their homelessness. We do that by providing comprehensive services all in one location. We are making a big change in Indianapolis by helping homeless neighbors get their lives back.
